TRACE YOUR FAMILY TREE – FAMILY HISTORY FOR BEGINNERS

STARTING IN OCTOBER! at Fawdon Community Library – An introduction to Family History provides an opportunity to learn how to get started tracing your family’s past:

  1. A workshop will be held within Fawdon Community Centre, to get you started tracing your family’s past. What questions do you need to ask, what documents do you need access to, to start your journey? We will also introduce you to searching online, using library computers, to help your search. The course and access to computers is free of charge. Session availability (lasting approx. 2 hours) on EITHER:
    • WED 3RD OCTOBER COMMENCING AT 1.30 P.M. FULLY BOOKED!
    • TUESDAY 16TH OCTOBER COMMENCING AT 6 P.M. (LIMITED AVAILABILITY)
  2. At your second session, we meet up in Newcastle City Centre, where we will visit Northumberland & Durham Family History Society and Newcastle City Library to familiarise you with locally available resources, to enable you to explore further. Session availability (lasting approx. 2 hours) on EITHER:
    • THURS 11TH OCTOBER COMMENCING AT 11 A.M. FULLY BOOKED!
    • FRIDAY 19TH OCTOBER COMMENCING AT 11 A.M. (LIMITED AVAILABILITY)

At the end of the course, you should have sufficient knowledge to continue your journey into your past, and take home an A3 Family Tree chart (pictured above), for you to complete as you progress your journey.

You can continue to pop into the library to access PCs, software and reference books whenever you need to, after the course.
