About Fawdon Community Library
Fawdon Community Library has been wholly run by volunteers, following closure of the former City Library service in Fawdon, in 2015. We are based in Fawdon Community Centre, and have a wide selection of books and services, including free access to computers, in our dedicated computer room. Other services include printing, photocopying and refreshments.
We run a Family History group each month for those interested in tracing their ancestors, and also ad-hoc computer training courses for beginners. Membership and most of our services are free of charge.
We are just 2 minutes walk from Fawdon Metro station and Fawdon Park shopping centre.
Find us on Google maps.

Fawdon Community Library aims to introduce newly released books at regular intervals throughout the year, but relies on fundraising, grants and donations to maintain our supply. Limited storage space prevents us from accepting large quantities of donated books, but we are always grateful to receive any recently published books that you may read, and no longer need.
While local libraries are reducing their opening hours, Fawdon’s volunteer run library has extended opening times and has recently initiated a mobile service to a local care home.
Pop in and see us at Fawdon Community Library – membership is free. You can find us within Fawdon Community Centre on Fawdon Park Road – just 2 minutes away from Fawdon Metro station.
Our opening times are:
- Mondays 11am to 5pm
- Tuesdays 10am-2pm
- Wednesdays 10am-1pm
- Thursdays 2pm to 5pm
- Fridays 10am to 1pm

We opened for business at the end of May and we’d be delighted to see you – whether to browse or borrow a book, to join up (no charge), to offer your help as a volunteer, or to use the Newcastle City Libraries People’s Network computer – free internet access if you are a Newcastle Libraries Member.
